Originally formed by 3 women in Leeds around a passion for producing, Luna Pines showcase modern electronica and refined dream pop and mix it with ambient, almost post-rock echoes on their debut EP ‘The House We Lived In’ that is out today via Sixteen Records. A deeply sensitive tone is felt in new single ‘Spring’ that serves as a spacious, indulgent moment on the EP, exploring painful issues such as death and loss in a mask of Cocteau Twins inspired melodies.

Luna Pines say: “We’ve produced the EP ourselves and recorded it in our bedrooms, sticking to our DIY work ethic that we believe helps craft the unique personal feeling of our music.”

‘The House We Lived In’ is a bold statement that reveals Luna Pines’ sound over landscapes of 80’s synth-wave & eccentric beats in its title track, to the post-rock inspired, soundtrack–esque first single ‘Medics’. A deeply sensitive tone is felt in opener ‘Medics’ as well as ‘Drip’ as they reference the bleak, stark reality of battling mental health day-to-day, whilst ‘Spring’ serves as a spacious, indulgent break that explores painful issues such as death and loss in a mask of Cocteau Twins inspired melodies. The eponymous closer reflects on the past, dealing with the realisation that what was, will never be again. It perfectly concludes the EP with the nostalgic ambience that is the foundation of the bands unique sound.

Having played sold out local support shows at prestigious venues like Belgrave in Leeds last year, the five piece take influence from acts like Daughter, The Japanese House, and James Blake, creating a nostalgic air of ambience, with soaring synths and heavy bass lines, reminding listeners of soundtracks similar to the brilliant ‘Drive’ score by Cliff Martinez. The band produces and mixes all their own material, making them even more of a force to be reckoned with inside of the brilliant and eclectic Leeds music scene. Having gained attention from various publications and BBC Introducing with their last two singles, they are gearing up to play venues across the UK and use this solid foundation to take their music to new heights this year.
