The three piece synth pop band formed in Wakefield in the early 80s. Discovered by Bill Nelson they had an indie hit – ‘Feels Like Winter Again’ – with him as producer. They were then signed to Polydor until 1985.

The band reformed in 2017, and this year they released a new album – ‘Saved Symmetry’. This was followed by a Cherry Records box set and a Universal Music digital re-release of the band’s Polydor catalogue.

Having been booked to play two electronica festivals down south the band have decided to play a local comeback gig in a special place. The venue for the gig – St Clements – is a William Morris & Co decorated Victorian church with Burne-Jones murals. So visually this promises to be something special.

Singer Steve Wright and David Crickmore will be joined onstage by Leeds based saxophone ace Will Howard who will be covering the parts of the late Ian Nelson who was the original third member of the trio.

Manningtree punk-pop fourpiece SuperGlu have released their new single ‘Forever Endeavour’, an anthem of loss with an undertone of optimism conveyed through energetic hooks stickier than their name.

Back with a bang after their well-received Communion Records Double A-Side release in 2017 Welcome Home / Rounder, SuperGlu have turned what should have been a ‘last hurrah’ into the most exciting of new beginnings, reminding us what we’ve been missing following their two-year hiatus.

Released on 4th October through the band’s imprint Don’t Try, in conjunction with Antigen Records via Kartel Music Group, ‘Forever Endeavour is an addictively upbeat track with euphoric harmonies, but has a darker meaning lyrically, longing for the excitement and promise of the past few years.’

Lead singer Ben explains; “The band had stopped making music and my girlfriend Krista (and bass player) was preparing to move to Berlin. I was at a low point. As I sat in my house strumming the chords and singing the verse, I heard Krista singing a potential chorus whilst packing upstairs: “Remember the good times” seemed to summarise it all.”

“This is a love-letter from me and Krista to both SuperGlu and one another – a swan song we thought no one would hear has found new meaning and bought SuperGlu back to life.”

SuperGlu released their debut EP Horse in 2016 and have since built an avid following for their vigorous punk-pop sound, with support from Huw Stephens and Annie Mac at BBC Radio 1, Steve Lamacq at BBC 6Music, John Kennedy at Radio X and BBC Introducing.

Their reputation as one of the UK’s best live acts has built them an impressive resume, which includes numerous shows at SXSW, support slots with Twin Atlantic and The Stranglers and a headline show on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds festival. The Elephant Trees are heading out on a six date tour in November, including a homecoming show at the Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds on the 29th November. The Depressed Kids Disco Tour marks the biggest part of the bands’ career so far, as they’ll be releasing their debut EP ‘Monachopsis’ to coincide with the shows.

THE CALLS have announced their new single, A CHANGE IS GONNA COME AROUND HERE, will be released on Atomic Records on 4 October to coincide with their tour of Germany. The single alludes lyrically to the frustration of the growing dystopia around us as it manifests into an eruption of dark, psychedelic dub-rock.

A CHANGE IS GONNA COME AROUND HERE has been a live favourite for some time which regularly impacts on the audience with a tangible shift in the atmosphere of the room. A combination of trip hop, dub and psychedelia, the song has evolved over time and now recalls echoes of The Clash, Portishead and Massive Attack. It also doubles as a representation of the band’s evolution and is a clear statement of intent with its epic and curious sound as the band take a bold and unashamed step towards a new direction.

Emerging from the musical hotbed of Leeds, THE CALLS are a vehemently DIY band who write, record and rehearse all their music in a converted barn and travel around in an old window cleaner’s van. The band are driven by the unconventional songwriting of frontman TOM FULLER, who puts an introspective slant on social observations through cryptic wordplay and subtle use of metaphor. Lead guitarist WILL JOHNSON is a film maker and visual artist who creates all the band’s videos and backdrops and who, remarkably, had never picked up a guitar before joining the band. His sound is therefore unrestrained, versatile and often highly unusual. Bassist MARCELL HASLEWOOD, a hippy lifeguard finding his way through life via a spiritual combination of ambience and dub, completes the trio with a unique approach to playing that can subvert expectations or lock into catchy grooves in equal measure.

Following the success of their previous single ‘Paddy’, alt-rock band Late Night Legacy are set to release ‘Blame’ on 18th October.

When asked about the track, Late Night Legacy said: “The song is about wanting something badly enough you are willing to lose everything for it. Accepting blame for the loss of one relationship over another.”

Taking their cues from the likes of Bring Me the Horizon, Nothing But Thieves and Rival Sons, their sound is high energy alternative rock. Having worked with Sugarhouse Production for the single, ‘Blame’ is set to be their strongest release to date.
