Secluded Sea is a collaboration between Halifax born multi-instrumentalist, Blair Murray and Welsh actor – come-vocalist Angela Hazeldine, who initially met when the latter was performing in a band at The Deaf Institute in Manchester. Having played in several local bands himself and also having done a variety of session work, Blair began writing his own solo material.

Blair’s influences transcend a range of genres which all contribute to his song-writing style and help to create a wide sonic pallet, consciously glancing back to the halcyon days of cinematic style studio productions, thus swimming against the tide in this compressed modern world.

The results are songs best described as shimmering dream pop, where experimentation with repetition, texture and tone rule over conventional song structures. Blair soon realised that for him to re-create his burgeoning ideas, he would need a band to back Angela and himself, and they are now augmented by James Newson on drums, Dave Murray on bass, Adam Russ, on rhythm guitar, Tom Fripp guitar & keys.

Also confirmed is Nigel Clark, a singer-songwriter who is best known as the lead singer and bassist of DODGY, One Sided Horse which is the brain child of Mark Whiteside and is a musical collaboration between Mark and EMBRACE members Richard McNamara, Mickey Dale, Steve Firth and Mike Heaton, Tony Wright the singer for Bradford rock band Terrorvision, the Stunning flamenco jazz artist Eduardo Niebla, Jess Gardham who has supported KT Tunstall, The Magic Numbers, Paul Carrack, Martin Simpson, Wilko Johnson to name but a few!

Having shared the stage with the likes of Jake Bugg and The Cribs, vintage rock quartet Ego States make their return with ‘That’s Just Life’, fusing the new wave punk edge of bands like XTC and The Cure with the gritty brit-rock energy of The Kinks and Ocean Colour Scene.

When asked about the track, Ego States said: “Lyrically the song grasps the end of a relationship when moving on becomes a reality, but you are still constantly reminded by the moments you spent together. Certain songs, places, phrases; take you back to a happier time and an individual can find themselves in a state of confusion with their emotions becoming distorted due to their love breakdown. When recording the track, we wanted to capture the essence of Mersey-beat, so we decided to record at the George Martin Studio, Liverpool. The track flows with retro influence throughout, with Brit-rock guitar tones reminiscent of XTC to the rich backing vocals of The Beach Boys; as well as using contemporary production techniques to create a crossover of musical generations.”

British spoken word artist, rapper, poet, novelist and playwright Kate Tempest released her third studio album, The Book of Traps & Lessons, last week via Fiction/American Recordings. The album was produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin and Tempest’s longtime collaborator Dan Carey.

A UK tour was announced today, kicking off at Oxford’s O2 Academy on October 14th and includes a show at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith which will be her biggest headline show to date.

Since her emergence in 2011 the London-born artist has redefined what it means to be a wordsmith in the Modern Age. To date, she has published three poetry collections, one book-length poem, a novel, staged three plays, and released two solo studio albums—Everybody Down (shortlisted for the 2014 Mercury Prize), and Let Them Eat Chaos (shortlisted for the 2017 Mercury Prize). Reflekter shine bright like the molten sounds of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Black Keys, Oasis, Echo and the Bunnymen and Kasabian rolled into one; a fiery melting pot of energy, melody and psychedelia and undoubtedly one of Nottingham’s hottest new prospects right now. Reflekter formed in Nottingham in May 2018. Four lads in a bar, watching Fontaines DC at Dot to Dot Festival in Nottingham. The lead singer and songwriter James had been on the circuit for 3 years, with a previous band called Same Streets, loved by BBC introducing decided that it was time to get the music recorded and put the band together from the ashes of same streets, and recruit the best musicians to bring it all to life. The local recording studio heard the demos who sent them to Jason Hart who manages Jake Bugg amongst others, who hired a crack studio team to produce and mix a complete album, recorded and mixed in two months.

With their first single ‘Caught in a Storm’ organically clocking up over 20,000 streams in a week, it wasn’t long before BBC Introducing’s Dean Jackson was hot on their heels, placing them high on the coveted “ones to watch list 2019”. Now with a second track unleashed for public devouring, ‘Alright’ truly captures the essence of their fist pumping, riff-shredding rock’n’roll.

Following their exceptional live appearance at Dot to Dot Nottingham recently, the band will also be tearing up a string of UK festival shows throughout the summer including Y Not Festival, Hardwick Calling and a recently announced appearance at Loopallu Festival in September.
