Sheffield band Naguals have released a new single – ‘Let It Go’/’D.R.I.’ – via Doit Thissen. The single is available as a lathe cut limited edition.

Most of the release has sold out on pre-orders, but there’ll be copies on sale at the launch gig, to be held at Delicious Clam in Sheffield on Friday June 21st. Leeds based electro pop artist Sfven has followed up his lrecent debut single Paranoid with the release of new single ‘Hard To Say I Love You Sober’ via 3Beat Productions.

Sfven, otherwise known as 21-year-old Jamie Clarke, has a unique sound which blends electronic beats with infectious vocal hooks, sweet melodies and meaningful lyrics. As Jamie himself says, he creates “sad stories entwined in happy tunes”.

Beginning his musical journey after accidentally attending an inspiring music production class at university, he takes his name from a hard drive that his songs are stored on and is influenced by the likes of Louis the Child, Bon Iver, Flume and Whethan.

Introducing his sound last month with debut single ‘Paranoid’, he is furthering this with new single ‘Hard To Say I Love You Sober’ which is an alternative love song and an entrancing electro pop Summer anthem in waiting. There is a theme to Jamie’s songwriting running across his first two singles, which charts familiar everyday highs and lows through both their lyrics and sound. Jamie says;

“Sober is about having a gut feeling that a relationship is coming to an end and at first not wanting to accept this and convincing yourself that it can be saved.”

“ It’s about eventually coming to the realisation that the best thing to do is just accept that it’s going nowhere and realise that you’re actually happier without it even if it is difficult to let go.”

Sfven will be releasing a video for ‘Hard To Say I Love You Sober’ later this month along with announcing his first live dates soon. He is continuing the beginning of a very exciting musical journey.

Flawes return with brand new single ‘Here To Stay’ – released via Red Bull Records on June 12th. The track is accompanied by a vertical music video in which masks are unveiled to reveal the personalities behind the sound. In a vast collection of intimate footage the band share their summer memories including a recording trip to LA and the jovial celebrations of England reaching the World Cup semi-finals.

Produced by Goldhouse (responsible for some of the biggest remixes and productions of the last year including Billie Eilish’s ‘Ocean Eyes’), ‘Here To Stay’ is blissed-out summer pop at it’s finest. With an even bolder, sleeker and defiantly uplifting sound than before, Flawes’ nuanced pop atmospherics and emotive lyrical topics make them tailor-made for both dancefloors and festival fields.

“It is an open letter to myself about the feeling of doubt that creeps in after you haven’t quite achieved what you set out to achieve just yet.” Explains front man JC. “It takes a journey through the questions you ask yourself during this period. The song then comes to the conclusion that I do actually belong here, I am “here to stay” and that I need to stop coming up with silly excuses and to overcome any self-doubt.”

‘Here To Stay’ follows the Huddersfield and London boys’ previous tracks this year ‘Don’t Count Me Out’, ‘When We Were Young’ and ‘Look No Further’ all of which have been gathering critical acclaim from around the world since their release. This comes after their self-imposed 18 months out of the limelight to immerse themselves in writing and recording to nail to sound they wished to define them.

Few bands launch as explosively as Flawes. Bolting from the blocks straight on to radio within a mere three months of forming. The reaction to their initial releases was instant. BBC Introducing played lead track ‘Don’t Wait For Me’ and, to Flawes’ astonishment, it was made Record of the Week on Radio 1, reached No.8 on Spotify’s viral chart and was chosen to soundtrack trailers for the hit US TV series Lie To Me. Bradford’s Glass Mountain have released their new single ‘Autumn Jam’

The single follows their EP ‘Wow & Flutter’ and lead single ‘Gin Flows Through My Veins’ and is a song about the joy and fear of love which is eerily beautiful in both its poetic lyrics and cinematic sound.

‘Hollow Thing’ is the second single to be taken from LIFE’s new album. Produced by Luke Smith (Foals) and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts), the band home in on a bigger and more focused sound whilst also channelling the lyrical content inwards. Whereas the band’s debut album ‘Popular Music’ was broadly political, the new album takes a more personal approach with beguilingly honest and brave lyrics that are bold in both sound and feeling, whilst also retaining the core DNA of their previous material.

Going on to speak about the album Mez says “A Picture of Good Health is not a collage of work but rather a snapshot of time; our time and the time of those around us. It’s political, but in a personal way. It’s a body of work that explores and examines the band’s inner-selves through a precise period; a period that has brought pain, loneliness, blood, guts, single parenthood, depression and the need for survival and love. It is the sense and need for belonging that is the resounding end note!”

The band recently embarked on a sold out two-week European tour as main support for IDLES as well as playing one of three sold-out London shows at the Electric Ballroom, and have played packed out sets at likes of The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Handmade Festival and more. Similarly, the band are also set to play numerous festivals across the UK & Europe including Glastonbury, The Great Escape, 2000 Trees, Pukkelpop (BE), Les Nuits Secretes (FR), Pohoda (SK), Rock The People (CZ), Wilkestock and local event, Humber Street Sesh – with many more to be announced.

New album Further (out now) marks a departure for Hawley who has, to date, named all his albums after Sheffield icons or landmarks. Challenging himself to keep things relatively up-tempo and keep the songs to about three minutes long, Further is quite possibly his most forthright album to date, clocking in at under 40 minutes.
