The band have also recently shared the excellent video for ‘Don’t Be Hiding’.

Hannah says about the song and video: “There are so many things we feel ashamed of and then so often hide. When hidden, it is easy to feel people don’t know us and if they did know us, they wouldn’t accept us. Don’t Be Hiding calls us to be honest and brave in sharing who we are whilst learning to love ourselves and each other as imperfect yet cherished people. We made this video at Harry’s house. It’s relaxed and playful, like the song, as if to create a space to explore this idea of sharing and accepting.”

Building on this idea the trio have also launched Found Friends which brings the charm of Mix-tape culture into the modern age by creatively utilising Spotify’s technology to match fans, and their playlists, with each other wherever they may be.

“We made our album Lost Friends with the intention to help listeners further discover what is true and beautiful about the world and its people. To us, the phrase Lost Friends mourns lost connections but also reveres the very human desire for relationship. We are thankful for the bonds that music creates for us and want you to feel a little more connected by music, too.”

Lost Friends was released on May 4th through Lucky Number and is available to order now HERE on limited lilac coloured gatefold vinyl, gatefold CD, and digital download.

SINGLE, TOUR & ALBUM NEWS: Ward Thomas new single ‘Never Know’, Announce 15 date tour 2019, New album ‘Restless Minds’ out February 1st

Rising UK stars Ward Thomas (24 year old twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy), release their jubilant new single ‘Never Know’ (available on all platforms from today), taken from their eagerly anticipated forthcoming album ‘Restless Minds’ out February 1st on WTW Music/Sony Music. The band will also tour the UK in the new year.

Written by Ward Thomas alongside Rebekah Powell and Jessica Sharman (who also co-wrote recent single ‘Lie Like Me’) and produced by Joe Rubel (Ed Sheeran, Tom Grennan), ‘Never Know’, is an empowering, arms-aloft pop anthem that they call their ‘ranty song’ and if you listen carefully, secretly features a reversed sample of a dog growl!

“Never Know” is a song we have always wanted to write” they said; “It’s for anyone who has been rejected in a friendship, relationship or in work. But out of that rejection comes empowerment and a sense of freedom and release which gives you the courage to do what you believe in and be yourself.”

Lyrically the twins have tackled issues close to their hearts on ‘Restless Minds’, including pertinent observations on social media, the women’s movement, what ‘the truth’ means in 2018 and mental health. “We couldn’t help but address social media and the subconscious competition it creates,” says Lizzy. “There’s a fake reality that everyone our age is falling for right now. Scroll down, see my page, look at my perfect life!”

Catherine and Lizzy will also feature in the forthcoming BBC Radio 1 documentary “Beyond Nashville”, presented by Scott Mills, exploring Country Music’s extraordinary success in the UK charts this year. SINGLE, TOUR & ALBUM NEWS: Red Rum Club drop ‘Honey’, October/November 2018 dates, album coming

0

Modern Sky will be releasing the debut album by Red Rum Club in 2019, of which you can listen the debut single ‘Honey’here:

The track was premiered by Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music, who said of the track: “it’s a scorcher this… Those trumpets! It’s an epic guitar banger with brass. Or should it be a brass banger with guitars? And that huge vocal too! The new one getting a first play in the world. That was Honey. Love it!”

“Honey’ is all about meeting and connecting with someone special, and going through thick and thin with them” says frontman Fran Doran of the song’s subject matter, and though delivered with the tenacious tempo of a saloon bar shoot out, lyrically ‘Honey’ too contains all tender qualities that could lace a final serenade at sunset.

Recorded at the infamous Parr Street Studios in Liverpool (with a little added production from Chris Taylor), the Scouse sextet set a precedent to create a ‘short, hooky tune’ to welcome listeners to their world of distinctive bandito blues and Alamo allegro.

’Honey’ initially formed around a simple synth-line created by RRC’s Mike McDermott on a second-hand synthesiser. With the words inked-in around the melody by chief-lyricist Tom Williams and the insertion of those ‘Tarantino’-esque trumpets, all was left was for frontman Fran Doran to lay down his signature guttural vocal gusto.

Epic and elegant, anthemic yet accomplished, sweet though with a faint wisp of sadness, ‘Honey’ is a microcosmic glimpse into the widescreen world that awaits in their debut long-player in early 2019.

VIDEO, TOUR & ALBUM NEWS: Holy Moly & The Crackers live video for ‘Cold Comfort Lane’, November 2018 dates, New album expected early 2019

0

Holy smokes! Yes it’s true – Holy Moly & The Crackers, the North East frenetic alt-rock folk septet with a hankering for the good times today let us in on a few little surprises they’ve been keeping hush hush… until now.

Popping the lid on a new live video for ‘Cold Comfort Lane’, a chock-load of UK shows ahoy and even circulating rumours of a new album hovering, there’s plenty to catch up on with these busy bees.

Never ones to miss an opportunity to let their (and your) hair down, the rabble rousing bunch will be hitting the road for a slew of their famously feverish live dates before 2018 is out. Eyeing up UK towns and cities the length and breadth of the land, the outfit will be embarking on an adventurous November tour kicking off at Southampton’s 1865 on the 1st November, with dates in Wales, Scotland, London, Manchester, and everywhere in between, before a heroic homecoming show at Newcastle’s Riverside at the tail end of the month (30th Nov). Full dates and details outlined below.

Ensuring their audiences are primed and fully on brief for the proceedings ahead, Holy Moly & The Crackers are today delighted to release a rambunctious live version of their irresistible hit single ‘Cold Comfort Lane’ as a taster of what’s in store at their well-honed live shows this Winter.

Already included on major Spotify playlists including Fresh Find & New Noise and with the studio version clocking up over 1 million streams, the contagious ’Cold Comfort Lane’ has also popped-up on E4, BT Vision, Capital One, Ultimate Ears, KIA Sportage Cars and can even be spotted on the credit title track for the blockbuster movie Oceans 8.

Speaking about the track and upcoming shows, Crackers-man Conrad says:

“Its been a bit of a mad year for our song ‘Cold Comfort Lane’ – it just seems to have hit a certain nerve! So, we really wanted to get a live version down. You know, thats what’s this band is all about, the live show, so it made sense. We went it Blank Studios, a local studio in Newcastle that has recently upgraded and upsized. Its proper. And the gents that work the machines know what they’re doing! So we all dressed up, drank a bucketful of coffee, and made a load of noise for a few hours. Hope you enjoy the result!”

Floating on something of a high-water mark, the last few years have huge for the female-fronted Holy Moly & The Crackers, with demand seemingly never greater. In 2017, the ever-evolving folk-alt-rock collective released their superlative album ‘Salem’ via their own Pink Lane Records label to widespread acclaim from the likes of R2 Magazine, Folk Radio UK, The Crack, Clash Magazine, No Depression, Blown Speaker, not to mention rave support at Radio from BBC Radio and Radio X, and of course overwhelming public support that continues to spread like wildfire across continent. Selling out venues across the country and drawing heaving crowds at festivals the likes of Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair, Bestival, Beautiful Days, Bearded Theory and more; Holy Moly also landed successfully in The Netherlands, France, Germany, Czech Republic and Italy where Crackers’ chatter is only getting louder.

With a veritable army of fans on tenter-hooks in anticipation of their next move, HMATC today are also delighted to lift the lid (a little) on progress of their forthcoming third album….

“We’ve just finished our new album and we hope to release next year, so you might see a couple of songs creeping into the setlist at these upcoming gigs” says Conrad. “The new album. Ooooof. Well, we’re over the moon. From where we’re standing, it’s the best stuff we’ve made – musically, lyrically and production (ally). At the beginning of the writing process, a few months ago, Ruth (lead singer, violin) said to me: “These songs have to come from something real, from the heart, from experience – that’s how we need to connect” And you know what, I think me might just have done that.””

One of the most effervescent and entertaining bands you’re as sure to see this Winter, don’t miss Holy Moly & The Crackers as they promise a show packed with surprises, new songs and ‘more energy, more noise, always’ at the following dates throughout November…

After recently releasing his fourth studio album, Darwin Deez has shared his first self-directed music video for his latest single, ‘Say It First’.

Darwin himself says: “My favourite music video ideas are usually ripped off from 90’s feature films. My video for Free (The Editorial Me) developed from my idea to rip off Groundhog Day. This one didn’t directly come from Multiplicity but it’s similar. Guy clones self to deal with romance, hijinks ensue. I wrote and self-directed for the first time, and I also did the edit. My cousin shot it and hooked us up with the producer Molly who made it all happen.”

The album, entitled ’10 Songs That Happened When You Left Me With My Stupid Heart’, is out now via Lucky Number.
