Local Sound Focus for bands, performers, promoters and venues

Local Sound Focus can help you get your messages out there in a number of ways. This page explains how to access those services and how we can help.

A note about reviews

As of October 2016 LSF has started doing selected reviews of both live gigs and concerts and recorded music. Please contact us if you would like us to review. However currently we can only do a limited number so please don’t be disappointed if we tell you we can’t review you.

We would prefer to do what we call interview led reviews where we interview the performer or band and also review live gigs or concerts, or music. To be honest in our experience interview led pieces are more effective in reaching more people and therefore more effective in promoting bands or performers.

Our area

We changed our area to Yorkshire – from Yorkshire and Lancashire – in September 2016. Our focus (see what we did there!) will be on music made and played in Yorkshire and providing information that is useful to people in Yorkshire.

We will provide gig and concert listings information for places outside Yorkshire where people from Yorkshire might travel to. For festivals this may be some distance from Yorkshire.

Bands and performers

Band and performer features

We can feature performers/bands. Features will consist of a set of standard questions with others added just for you. Most of the time we will email out the questions to you, however in some cases we may be able to arrange face-to-face or phone interviews.

If you’d like to be featured please contact us via the Contact Us page or email biginfo@localsoundfocus.com

Gig and concert listings

Listings are free and easy to use. Instructions on how to use our listings service can be found here. Listings can contain ticket links and we feature a map and directions function in the listing you add.

News about gigs, concerts, and music and video releases

We can publish your news stories. News stories can contain videos and embedded music services (like Soundcloud and Bandcamp). If you are launching a video we can help with that – an example can be found here.

If you’d like us to help with these please contact us via the Contact Us page or email biginfo@localsoundfocus.com

News stories will go out to our Facebook and Twitter feeds. Our followers and likers are concentrated in our area. Although it may appear that our liker and follower numbers are low our total reach is very large.

Gig and concert previews

If you have a special gig or a tour that includes dates in our area then we would be happy to publish a story about that. Just send us the information and some images we can use and we’ll put it together for you.

Promoters and venues

If you operate a mailing list please add biginfo@localsoundfocus.com to your list. We are happy to receive information.

Information format

A standard press release works best for us to use as a basis. Please do not use all capitals in your information as capitals are difficult to read for people with visual impairments and we want to make our site accessible to as many people as possible. Information that requires a lot of reformatting may be rejected as unfortunately we are volunteers with a limited amount of time.
