ALBUM & TOUR NEWS: Table Scraps announce new album, Upcoming 2017/2018 dates

0

Table Scraps have announced their new album ‘Autonomy’ and released a brand new track from it, ‘Sick Of Me’.

On the song, Scott Vincent Abbott of the band has said “‘Sick of Me’ is about when friendships stagnate and minor annoyance gives way to mouldering resentment. Then juxtapose that feeling on top of a jangly sunshine pop backdrop (or as close to that as we ever get!). The echo of our breeze block 5m x 5m (and very un-soundproofed) room also perfectly suited the track’s claustrophobic feel. It’s dedicated to everyone just about keeping a lid on telling that one person how you really feel and cutting them loose.”

The info

Table Scraps hail from Birmingham, UK and create black-hearted garage punk which fully embraces the good, the bad and the ugly of rock’n’roll’s twisted lineage and various mutations. The band’s entire output is produced by themselves in-house and their no-compromise approach, having spawned a string of well-received 7” singles and an LP, extends to perfecting their chaotic and reverb-drenched live shows.

The trio have more than held their own alongside Fat White Family, IDLES and Yak, as well as being hand-picked to open for The Stranglers, Buzzcocks and The Gories. Joe Talbot, frontman of IDLES was so impressed by the band that he recently span ‘My Obsession’ whilst sitting in for Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music Recommends show. Huw Stephens followed suit and also played the track a week later on Radio 1. They are now pleased to announce the new single ‘Sick Of Me’, which has already been highlighted by the likes of Tom Ravenscroft on BBC 6 Music as well as John Kennedy on Radio X.

Instantly converting anyone straying into the band’s path, Table Scraps have been featured regularly on US and UK TV (Audience Network, Channel 4, Viceland) and their single ‘Electricity’ has also been selected for an upcoming campaign with Adidas. Table Scraps continue to play by their own rules and will release ‘Autonomy’ on February 23rd via Zen Ten.

SINGLE & TOUR NEWS: Sea Girls unveil new single ‘What For’, February 2018 Headline Tour

0

Sea Girls, a four piece from Leicestershire and Kent, give a nod to the best of British indie in their music, such as Catfish & The Bottlemen, Nothing But Thieves and The Amazons.

The band have been friends since school playing in rival bands and coming together to form Sea Girls in 2015. As a band they started out as a very different format. Oli was the singer, Rory on guitar, Henry now the singer and guitar player was the bassist and Andrew played a ‘K Oscillator’ weird synth, which he thought “sounded pretty cool”. Over time tastes change!

Henry says “Our music sounds different now and we’ve shifted around instruments, but we have stuck together and developed our Sea Girls sound. We want to make diverse interesting music by constantly improving. If we can produce songs that make you get up spin around and then cry, we’re happy. I guess the ultimate would be for people to relate an experience or part of their life to our music and for us to grow with them”

Produced by Larry Hibbett (Nothing But Thieves, Sundara Karma) lead singles `Call Me Out’, `Lost’ and imminent `What For’ are already pricking up ears with a Radio 1 playlist and supporters Annie Mac and Huw Stephens BBC Introducing as well as on-line support with the likes of:

They are looking forward to their first UK headline tour in February next year. “We’ll have our second EP out by then, so more music for people to sink their teeth into. We played a lot of gigs before we ever went into the studio, so want anyone who watches us to feel like they have been to a unique show.”

It may be early days for Sea Girls, but if these tightly honed rock songs keep packing such solid punches, they won’t be held back for long. Catch Sea Girls live on their debut tour around the UK in February 2018. Tickets available at: www.seagirls.net (all gigs are 14+ unless otherwise stated)

TOUR & ALBUM NEWS: Black Lips tour starts this week, ‘Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?’ out now

0

Atlanta flower punk pioneers Black Lips are rolling on. After their headlining appearance at Reading & Leeds this summer, the band start a number of UK dates.

Earlier this year through Vice Records, Black Lips released ‘Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?’. Produced by Sean Lennon at his studio compound in upstate New York throughout 2016, the album is the group’s most musically evolved to date, while still staying true to their original blistering take on fuzzy, dirty rock n’ roll.

During the recording the band isolated themselves from the outside world, infusing the album with a focused liveliness similar to the spirit that brought them together in the first place. On ‘Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?’ founding members Cole Alexander and Jared Swilley teamed with former guitarist Jack Hines (who played in the group from 2002-2004) and recent additions Oakley Munson on drums and Zumi Rosow on saxophone. The album also features contributions by Saul Adamczewski of Fat White Family and guest vocals by Yoko Ono.

SINGLE NEWS: Hypnosister releases ‘Poorly Boy’ on Sleep All Day Music

0

Following the release of debut single Bother, Ex-Allusondrugs guitarist Damian Hughes has released his second single Poorly Boy with his new project Hypnosister.

Poorly Boy fuses the thrashyness of Cardiacs and early Placebo with a chorus akin to the likes of R.E.M. to show a more aggressive, heavier, faster paced side to Hypnosister that still remains unapologetically pop. Poorly boy is out now on Sleep All Day Music.

“Poorly Boy is about coming to terms with the death of a friend who was failed by the mental health system” says Hughes “It’s about the denial, the guilt, playing the situation back in your head wishing you could have done something. Eventually time does it’s thing and you heal, learn and grow.”

VIDEO NEWS: NARCS share their new video for ‘Raus!’

0

NARCS have shared their new video for ‘Raus!’, a single taken from their album ‘A Thinking Animal’, which was released via Clue Records.

Speaking about the single, Joe Angus (guitarist) said, “Raus as a song was a long, drawn out process to make something coherent out of a whole host of churning, grinding grievances we had about the way things were for us, as individuals and as a country. The song was born at a time when I (Joe – Guitar) had stepped away from the band, for the sake of my mental wellbeing more than anything, and the other lads were jamming with Sam and Jack (formerly of leeds band Insatellites). The instant correlation between what goes on in Westminster and the everyday gnawing shittiness of the average working life. It’s just a guttural outpouring of that sinking feeling post-General Election, set on top of this incessant industrial rhythm. We were listening to a lot of The Fall and Girl Band at the time, so we made absolutely no effort to make it fun or abide by any sort of received pop structure. It felt at times during recording that we maybe just indulged ourselves in our anger too much for others to really click with it, but as it turns out, it’s probably the most popular song on the album. Which goes to show, I guess, just how utterly disenfranchised and aggrieved people are with life in the UK. ”

‘Raus’ is a passionate yet desolate onslaught focused on voicing the bands tribulations with the increasing unrest across the UK in post-General Election Britain, average working life and the band members personal experiences as individuals. The track is a brooding statement, pushed on by sparse bass while the guitars scream as hard as the impassioned vocals. With verses that exchange caustic guitar feedback for trenchant lyrics and cacophonous instrumental sections that culminate in a volatile rhythmically driven end section, the track perfectly conveys the bands frustration and dejection at current state of the country’s political and social status.

2015 saw the band play Leeds & Reading Festival, Long Division, Tramlines and complete a full UK tour, whilst picking up acclaim from BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio, Noisey and more. Whilst last year saw the band play the DIY stage and Live at Leeds as well as Leicester’s Handmade Festival, 2000 Trees, Tramlines and a number of other dates. The band then decide to go on hiatus for the foreseeable future, with guitarist Joe Angus moving to New Zealand.

Speaking about his departure, he goes on to say, “I couldn’t handle it for much longer, so I made a big leap with my partner and kids to New Zealand. The writing had dried up and I wasn’t able to do my job and produce any sort of clarity to put pen to paper. It’s not the end of NARCS for certain, but it’s definitely the start of new things for all of us. Keep watching the skies and never stop punching Nazis.”

To support the video, ‘Raus!’ will be released on 24th November as a digital standalone single and across streaming services, and similarly the band’s last album ‘A Thinking Animal’, is currently available on blue vinyl for just £4 or PWYW for the digital download from the Clue Records Bandcamp page HERE.
