Adding an entry is simple, just follow these simple steps. If you have any queries about this please contact us.
PLEASE NOTE: The Directory is for listings of shops, services and venues etc. only. It should not be used for gig or concert listings. We will be launching a gig and concert service in the future. In the meantime if you want us to publicise your gig or concert if you post the details to our Facebook Page we can share it out to both Facebook and Twitter.
You’ll need to be registered to add listings
We require registration to add a directory so that we can contact you if we have any questions about your directory entry. The first time you visit the Add Directory Entry page you’ll be asked to create a registration.
Once you have registered just go back to the Add Directory Entry page and login. Above the page contact you’ll see a black bar with a menu item for Directory Dashboard. This will take you to a page where you can edit or delete your Directory entries.
Are you in our area?
Before adding an entry please check that you are in our area – a map can be found here – or within easy travelling distance for people living within our area. If you are based outside this area but your service or shop can be used by people in our area then you can still add a listing. If you are unsure as to whether you can have a listing please contact us.
Is there a category in our Directory that applies to you?
If you go to the ‘Add Listing‘ page and scroll down you’ll see a drop list labelled ‘Categories’ – click on this and you’ll see the existing categories in our Directory (you’ll be able to have your listing under more than one category). If you want a category added to the available ones please contact us.
OK so I’ve checked I’m in your area and there are the categories I need, what do I do next?
You will need the following information to add your entry:
- Your shop, service or venue name
- Your location – your full postal address including postcode for services or shops where this is appropriate (see below)
- A short description of your service, shop or venue:
- Please include access details for disabled people where appropriate – if these are available on your website say so
- If you have ‘opening hours’ please say what these are
- If you sell products via a website please include this information
- Contact details
- Website and social media details
- One photo – this could be a logo or picture of the building, etc. It must be under 1mb.
Filling in the form
Fill in the form using the guide below.
Title – This is the name of your shop or service.
Location – If you are a shop or service, type your postcode into this box and click ‘Find on map’. Check that this in in the right place.
Under the map you will find a tick box that is labelled ‘Enter address details manually’, click on this and you’ll find some boxes already filled in. Check and correct where necessary.
Where you don’t want a postal address to show you can use a more general location such as West Yorkshire, Manchester etc. Click on ‘Find on map’ and check it’s the right area; you may need to add UK after the location. You will need to use the ‘Enter address details manually’ because when you choose a general location the system fills in a default address for that location. Where your location is not accepted the entry will not submit.
Categories – Choose your first category by using the drop-down, add further categories as needed using the ‘Add More’ button.
Contact details – Fill this in, if one of the fields does not apply leave blank.
Social accounts – Fill this in, if one of the fields does not apply leave blank.
Listing description – Type your description here. Formatting tools are available but we recommend not using any formatting beyond bullets and bold.
Photos – Use the browse button to select your photo.
Click submit
That’s it. Your listing will be sent to us for approval. If we have any queries about your entry we’ll be in contact. Once approved we’ll make your entry live on the site.
