Back by overwhelming popular demand, CHAMELEONS VOX are delighted to reveal they will be returning to the hallowed halls of the Manchester Academy for their third annual hometown celebration.

Now becoming something of a yearly tradition for the cult Mancunian band and their devoted fan base, the third annual instalment follows rapturously received former years in residence at the venue.

The Home Is Where The Heart Is series has seen the Chameleons Vox mastermind Mark Burgess unearth forgotten gems and glittering rarities from the band’s coveted back catalogue for these utterly unique annual shows; 2016’s celebrations will be no exception.

Promising a cathartic exploration through the band’s back catalogue, fans can expect a joyous appraisal that highlights the very best of all four of The Chameleons seminal studio albums, delving deep into the ‘Script of The Bridge’ (1983), ‘What Does Anything Mean? Basically’ (1985), ‘Strange Times’ (1986) and ‘Why Call It Anything’ (2001) for this exclusive gig.

Speaking about this year’s proceedings, Mark Burgess said: “Well it’s become a bit of a tradition over the last few years and it’s taken on the feeling of a huge Chameleons Christmas party, people fly in from all over and it’s always sold out. Every one of them has been a blast to do and because it’s an Academy Room we can work with STS, the best PA suppliers in the country, and put really cool lights in. That’s great for us and for audience alike.

“Now that I’m not going to be touring over here so much I’m hoping the December get together is a tradition we can continue for a while. If past shows are anything to go by it’s going to be another fantastic night and we’re really looking forward to it. ”
As in previous years, Chameleons Vox will curate a line up friends new and old to join them for the occasion to ensure their audiences are suitably warmed up in the run up for the winter outing.

Returning for their second appearance at Home Is Where The Heart Is, we are delighted to welcome back Hulme heroes Dub Sex for 2016 line up. Widely considered as one of Manchester’s great ‘lost’ bands, the Peel-favourites will be riding the high of their last open armed reception in support of Chameleons Vox at Academy 2 back in 2014. Re-united and re-energised, the band will be bringing some fireworks of their own to Academy 2 this year as they mark their 30th Anniversary at the bash.

Further additions to the line up will be announced in due course.

Plus, carry the night on with the Official After Party in Union Bar with DJ Andy Woods (Smile/Unknown Pleasures) until late.

Post punk four-piece The Chameleons formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester in 1981. Fronted by singer and bassist Mark Burgess, the band went on to release six studio albums and an EP, along with many Peel sessions, live records and compilations in a career spanning three decades. With a cult following hooked on their iridescent indie, Burgess has continued performing the material recorded during this time live under the moniker Chameleons Vox to an ever adoring fan base.
