Fancy a gig at mjf 201? They’re a contemporary jazz festival, the only UK winner of the Europe Jazz Network Award for Adventurous Programming and they champion artists playing original work – especially those living and working in the north west of England. They were the first festival to pioneer an open artists’ submission system and it still forms the basis of their programme today.
Applications are now open for all three strands of their artistic programme:
- Irwin Mitchell mjf originals 2017 the UK’s only open jazz commissioning scheme for composer-musicians – the chance to devise, rehearse and première a major brand new work at mjf, and to have all aspects of the creative process supported financially and logistically.
- mjf introduces mjf’s unique platform for talented emerging regional bands aged 16 – 25. If you’re 16-25, based in the north west and yet to break into the professional gigging circuit, then mjf introduces is for you. mjf introduces is sponsored by Manchester Arndale.
- The general festival programme
Eligibility criteria for each of the strands is available on their website as is information about how to apply.
Closing date for mjf originals is 10.00am Wednesday 9th November. All other submissions 5pm on Friday 9th December 2016.
