Launched in 2018 THE BREAKFAST CLUB is the brainchild of legendary local promoter Nigel Holmes (Best known for the seminal Smash It Up punk brand, but who has been somewhat of a catalyst of the Hull music scene over the last 20 years) and musician Mark English who has played in many bands over the years but is currently playing in The Gold Needles who have just signed a record deal with a highly respected American record label.
A chance meeting unveiled a mutual passion, enthusiasm and interests in similar music, so decided to start putting on high quality nights with some great new and undiscovered acts locally alongside some of their favourite “name” acts. This philosophy has been the cornerstone of Nigel’s work throughout his 35 years in the music business, and has been particularly prevalent in Hull.
The Breakfast Club is largely centred on Power pop, Pnk, New Wave, and classic “Alternative/Indie, though isn’t genre specific and with their incredible ear and ability to find and attract great bands and music they have hit the ground running.
Launched in 2018 and using the once legendary venue The Springhead, in a bid to re-establish it and add to the rich tapestry of existing venues in the city, the first Show by Duncan Reid and The Big Heads (Duncan Reid was bass player and frontman for the original 70’s punk/power pop band The Boys) was a runaway success, with much positive feedback from audience members. The success and incredible feedback continued, with shows by The Darling Buds and Ming City Rockers.
Now they have just announced their next run of Shows to start off 2019. Details are as follows:
