Alive Network, the UK’s most successful live music agency, behind the UK’s biggest private event bands, has announced auditions in Leeds.

Aimed at local cover bands and original artists, the agency hopes to recruit more regional musicians to take advantage of work in the area.

Last year, Alive helped UK musicians earn £10 million, with around £500k worth of wedding, private and corporate events booked in Yorkshire.

“We want gigs in the North to go to local bands – and so do our clients, “ says Alive founder Dave Bevan. “But we just don’t have enough artists based here to meet demand.”

“Clients don’t want to have to book a band in London if they can have homegrown talent. We’re keen to find that talent, and ensure that local opportunities go to local musicians.”

As well as professional cover bands, original bands are also being encouraged to apply.

“Private events can be a lucrative source of income for musicians. We work with artists that tour with Beyonce, JT, Rag N Bone Man, Stormzy – the list goes on – as well as high-level session musicians, and recording artists,” explains Dave.

“For all of them, commercial work is just one part of a varied music career. Many rely on private events to fund their passion projects, as it’s one of the industry’s most reliable ways to make money.”

Leeds band Midnight Train joined Alive after applying in 2018. Already a professional band working in private events, they’ve enjoyed a career boost since joining the agency.

Says singer Tom, “It’s been a hugely positive experience for us. In the last 6 months, we’ve gained a large number of bookings and a chance to further our career as musicians. We can’t thank Alive enough for their support and professional approach.

“One of my personal highlights has been getting our first international gig, something we’ve wanted to do for a long time!

“We can’t wait to see where the future takes us.”

Bands that successfully audition will join Alive Network at no cost, and become part of the UK’s most successful booking agency, which was founded by musicians in 1999.

Auditions will take place at Pirate Studios in Leeds, on Thursday 6 June, 2019.
