TOUR NEWS: Machine Gun Kelly September 2017 tour

EST 19XX/Bad Boy/Interscope recording artist Machine Gun Kelly has announced dates for his headlining tour, THE 27 TOUR, following the release of his highly anticipated album ‘bloom’.

On the heels of his chart topping single, “Bad Things,” selling over 4.5M+ worldwide, “At My Best” was the number one most added song at Rhythmic radio and has amassed more than 39M+ streams globally to date. The song is currently in the top 20 at Top 40 radio, you can check out the video for “At My Best” HERE.

Adding to his already blossoming year, Machine Gun Kelly is nominated for Top Rap Collaboration at this year’s 2017 Billboard Music Awards. He will also be performing at the Alternative Press Music Awards on July 17. He has been nominated for both Song Of The Year and Best New Artist. The fourth annual APMAs will broadcast live from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. Machine Gun Kelly recently took home a Radio Disney Music Award for Best Collaboration with his hit single “Bad Things.”

Machine Gun Kelly was also featured on British girl group Little Mix’s latest single “No More Sad Songs.” His sophomore album General Admission debuted at #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts.

SINGLE & GIG NEWS: Floodhounds release ‘Wide Awake’

There’s a lot going for Floodhounds at the moment. A new single. Gigs coming up include a residency at London’s The Troubadour with a gig a month from June to September – so if you’re down south why not go see them. These nights will feature Floodhounds and special guests – The Cuckoos for one.

But first we have a new single from the band. ‘Wide Awake’ is a stonking heavy bluesy fast stomp. We asked our writer Frank what he thought:

“I love this thing. You’ve got that heavy sound sprinkled with all sorts of stuff. I especially like the backing vocals that just add that sparkle. And as for the break – where did they get the idea that a grungy harmonica would work that well. It’s fast, it’s furious and it’s raw.”

The sound of the track was influenced by what the band have been listening to.

“We’ve been listening to lots of really fast raw punk music lately like Yak, Drenge and The Moonlandingz, and just wanted to write something fast, heavy and furious but still with our trademark bluesy feel to it” – Jack Flynn

‘Wake Awake’ is released on the 17th June and will be available on iTunes, Spotify and Bandcamp.

SINGLE & GIG NEWS: Fizzy Blood drop ‘Summer Of Luv’, announced for Reading & Leeds Festivals

Fresh from their blistering performance at the hallowed grounds of Donington for Download Festival, Leeds band Fizzy Blood have unleashed their soundtrack to festival season, new single ‘Summer Of Luv’.

“The key guitar riff that can be heard throughout ‘Summer Of Luv’ was actually written whilst we were chilling out in our Super 8 Motel off a freeway in Austin, TX back when we first played SXSW festival in 2016. We took that riff home with us, turned it into a song and tried to capture in lyrics how we felt travelling into the unknown for the first time. In short, it’s our own little love letter to the State of Texas.”

Fizzy Blood also announce their performance at Reading & Leeds festivals in August, which adds to their hefty touring schedule this summer.

“Being a band based in Leeds all you hear, all summer long is ‘Ahh so you’re going to Leeds Festival right?’. In years previous we’d have said with broken hearts a collective no. We’re all buzzing to now actually reply to those people with ‘yeah see you there!’. Without a doubt, it is our favourite festival in the UK, and it’ll be an exciting first for many of us to check out Reading festival too. We love mud so much!”

Fickle Friends return with ‘Glue’ – released on Polydor.

Led by front woman Natti Shiner, Fickle Friends have spent the last 18 months releasing a string of brilliant singles including ‘Swim’, ‘Brooklyn’ and the most recent Radio 1 playlisted ‘Hello Hello’.

Introducing the track Natti said “After signing we ended up doing a bunch of obligatory writing sessions and nothing came from them… the more we got asked to do them, the more frustrated we became. In the end we were like ‘GAH WE CAN WRITE OUR OWN POP TUNE”. So the day after another fruitless writing session we literally wrote and produced ‘Glue’ in one afternoon in Jack’s bedroom. I imagined the times I’ve been out (and inebriated) and thinking that I’ve fallen in love with someone after only 5 minutes of talking to them at the bar…so I wrote a song about it.”

‘Glue’ was produced by the band and mixed by Mark Ralph (Years & Years, Hot Chip, Clean Bandit).

ALBUM & TOURS NEWS: Wildwood Kin release debut album ‘Turning Tides’ 18th August, UK dates October/November 2017

Having recently signed to the newly re-launched Sony imprint Silvertone, acclaimed indie alt folk band Wildwood Kin will release their much-anticipated debut album ‘Turning Tides’ August 18th.

Wildwood Kin, a family trio formed in Exeter, borrow heavily from early folk influences, but their extraordinary debut album delves deeply in to other genres, featuring both electric and acoustic instruments. It boasts inventive sonics and spectral atmospherics alongside their sublime three-part harmonies.

Guitarist Emillie Key, her bouzouki/keyboard-playing sister Beth and their drumming cousin Meghann Loney all sing, swapping leads on original songs, and joining forces on harmonies that have become their trademark, inviting comparisons with the likes of Crosby, Stills and Nash and Fleetwood Mac.

“Making the album was a huge learning process,” says Emillie. “We had no idea what we were capable of and we constantly surprised ourselves. We went in to the studio not knowing where the boundaries were and discovered that, of course, there aren’t any. That’s what we found most exciting.”

‘Run’ is the anthemic and uplifting first single (impacting June 30th). With other highlights including the mesmerising opening track ‘The Author’, the hypnotic ‘Steady My Heart’, ‘Warrior Daughter’s’ driving drums, the sombre electronic ‘Dove’ and the rousing ‘Taking A Hold’, alongside the shape-shifting dreamy pop of the title track.

Being tipped by the likes of Jo Whiley, Mark Radcliffe, Steve Wright, Bob Harris and Jamie Cullum and having previously toured with Seth Lakeman and Ward Thomas, the band play several UK headline shows this autumn.

Before that the girls will play three shows at The Islington as part of a monthly residency alongside a huge festival line-up this summer, which includes both the Glastonbury Avalon and BBC Introducing Stages, plus BBC Radio 2’s ‘Festival In A Day’ in Hyde Park.

Since the earliest days of film and TV, the classical repertoire has been plundered for use as film soundtracks, TV series title themes or advertising jingles. Orchestra of Square Chapel are now reclaiming this music and bringing it back to a concert setting. Some of the best pieces have been selected, including Mahler’s beautiful Adagietto (Death in Venice), Prokofiev’s stirring Romeo and Juliet (The Apprentice), Rossini’s famous William Tell Overture (The Lone Ranger). Furthermore, the Orchestra will perform a specially-written TV advert compilation, with a challenge to the audience to spot as many of the TV advert themes hidden (or not so well hidden) within it. An entertaining and musically rich experience!

NYC’s Charly Bliss have announced long awaited first UK dates following on form the huge interest in their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Guppy’, out now digitally via Barsuk Records. The album will get a physical release in the UK on September 8th ahead of their live dates here.

The band have also released a music video for “Westermarck,”, a stand out – complete with infectious, immediate chorus – from Guppy. Billboard, who premiered the video, are saying it “captures summer camp in all its nostalgic, carefree glory.”

For Skinny Lister, this tour will wrap up the worldwide campaign of their third and critically acclaimed album ‘The Devil, The Heart & The Fight’. FESTIVAL NEWS: Tramlines announce official charity partner

Tramlines have named the Refugee Council as their official charity partner for this year’s event.

The Refugee Council is a UK wide charity that works directly with refugees and asylum seekers, helping them to rebuild their lives and ensuring refugees have a stronger and more influential voice in decisions that will affect them.

This is a cause that Tramlines is very happy to support, it is currently the 10 year anniversary of Sheffield’s status as the first official ‘City of Sanctuary’ for refugees. Over the years the city has accepted people from all over the world including the recent conflict in Syria.

Maurice Wren, Chief Executive of the Refugee Council, said, “We are delighted to be named as Tramlines Festival’s official charity partner for 2017. This partnership will help the Refugee Council raise funds and awareness so that we can continue providing vital services for the many refugees and people seeking asylum in Sheffield and across the country.

“Our partnership with Sheffield’s annual music festival coincides with the ten year anniversary of Sheffield becoming the UK’s first City of Sanctuary. Over the years the people of Sheffield have opened their arms to thousands of refugees and people in seeking asylum, welcoming them to the city and supporting them to build new lives. This is a fantastic achievement, the impact of which extends far beyond the city.”
