Newcastle´s electronic alt-poppers Twist Helix have recently returned from their tours of the UK and Spain promoting their last single ‘Pulse’ – you can read our piece on ‘Pulse’ here  – and will be celebrating the release of their new single ‘Little Buildings’ on July 22nd as part of their headline set at the Northern Electric Festival in Newcastle.

The single is the second release from their upcoming album ‘Ouseburn’, which explores the post-industrial redevelopment of the North-East of England. The title is taken from a local music venue which the band also uses as a practice space. The song describes how the shameless profit motivated construction projects slowly destroy the fringe arts spaces and creative/community hubs, taking away the vibrant and colourful life inside them.

‘Little Buildings’ is a soaring synth-pop track – although using the term synth-pop to describe something quite as epic as this seems wrong to be honest. It’s, how shall I put this, more epic than that term might describe. This is huge. I suspect the band might not take this as a compliment but for me it edges into new electro-prog, but without losing that pop edge, this is a track you can dance to people. I’d recommend giving it a listen.

Since opening the Main Stage at the Evolution Emerging Festival in May 2017, the band have earned a growing reputation for their live shows as well as for their intelligent narrative driven synth-pop which has attracted attention from the likes of the BBC, Cadena Ser (Spain), Fringe Music Fix, Insonoro (Spain) and Little Indie Blogs amongst others. With more than 15 festival appearances since 2016, Twist Helix have supported Everything Everything, BBC6 Music favourites Samaris, Kate Jackson (ex-Long Blondes), BBC1 Lulu James, Newton Faulkner and Dub Pistols.

Known for their busy touring schedules , they have already announced the first 10 dates of their summer tour following on from 25 gigs and festival appearances in the first half of 2017.
